I spent five days out at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in Berkeley, CA with my physics research group working on the beam-line which is awesome.

So this post will attempt to give a very low level insight into what a synchrotron, a beam-line and X-rays are.. and why we should care, mixed in with some cool pics of the trip.
